A FirstPort retirement development in Surrey has been awarded first place in this year\u2019s Runnymede in Bloom gardening competition.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Lodge \u2013 an independent-living retirement development in Englefield Green \u2013 was awarded first place in the Communal\/Community Garden category.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

FirstPort Development Manager Ann Johnson said: <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the first year we have decided to enter the Runnymede in Bloom competition and we are absolutely thrilled to have won first place for our category.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Runnymede in Bloom is an annual competition set up by Runnymede Borough Council to celebrate impressive communal and residential gardens across the area.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOur gardens are so beautifully maintained by our residents and landscapers, and they are a lovely place for both residents and visitors to enjoy,\u201d says Ann.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Lodge\u2019s gardens, which feature bee-friendly flowers, mature trees and shrubs surrounding manicured lawns with seating areas, were visited by judges from the Borough Council on the 3 July and the residents received the award at a presentation evening the following week.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
