Residents at a retirement development at Northwich have bonded over a mutual love of music, forming their own music group, as part of the development\u2019s extensive list of social activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Community activities are a key feature of independent retirement living, and at Townbridge Court, residents benefit from a bustling social scene, with a keen committee of residents working alongside the Development Manager to keep residents entertained. This includes the very popular music group, which has gone from strength to strength in recent months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2015, one musical resident began to teach his fellow residents to play the ukelele, holding sessions in the communal lounge. As they began to hone their new skills, the group began to play together every week, singing along to classic tunes, and even performing for their neighbours on a number of occasions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dolly Chesterton, Development Manager at Townbridge Court, said: \u201cWe have a packed social schedule here at Townbridge Court, well organised by our social committee and it\u2019s been great to see the residents enjoy it throughout the 11 years I have been here. I\u2019ve loved seeing this group grow, and make themselves \u2018official\u2019 – they\u2019ve even introduced their own embroidered polo shirts!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Colin Winnington, Music Tutor of Townbridge Court Ukelele Group, added: \u201cHaving been an entertainer for most of my life, when I came to live at Townbridge Court, I thought it a great idea to start our own Ukelele\/Music group. We play every Tuesday evening in the communal lounge, having a great time and a good laugh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEveryone is welcome to join in and learn, or just listen or sing along. There are seven members at present, which includes four ukeleles, a tambourine, a washboard and a percussion \u2013 I also sometimes play a keyboard.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
