{"id":1534,"date":"2024-03-06T16:13:08","date_gmt":"2024-03-06T16:13:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.firstport.co.uk\/news\/firstport-secures-funding-to-improve-heat-network-efficiency-and-reduce-energy-costs\/"},"modified":"2025-06-18T11:55:05","modified_gmt":"2025-06-18T10:55:05","slug":"firstport-secures-funding-to-improve-heat-network-efficiency-and-reduce-energy-costs","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.firstport.co.uk\/news\/firstport-secures-funding-to-improve-heat-network-efficiency-and-reduce-energy-costs\/","title":{"rendered":"FirstPort secures funding to improve heat network efficiency and reduce energy costs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">FirstPort has received a share of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/gemserv.com\/our-thoughts\/heat-networks-in-england-and-wales-receive-3-5-million-for-efficiency-improvements-benefitting-over-5000-residents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a33.5m Government funding<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> set to benefit hundreds of residents by looking at how increased efficiency and reduced energy costs can be achieved through improvements to heat networks.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">FirstPort-managed, Park 25 in Redhill, Surrey secured the funding awarded in Round four of the Government\u2019s Heat Network Efficiency Scheme (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/gemserv.com\/heat-network-efficiency-scheme-hnes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">HNES<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">). This follows an announcement in late 2023 that Victory Pier in Kent had <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.firstport.co.uk\/news\/residents-are-set-to-benefit-from-funding-to-improve-heat-network-efficiency\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">received round-two funding.<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:false,&quot;134233118&quot;:false,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335557856&quot;:16777215,&quot;335559738&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:300,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The funding is going towards a study into how heat networks can improve for the benefit of residents. With two developments now in the scheme, FirstPort will see a greater impact on its learnings, which it intends to roll out across all developments that have heat network systems within communal areas.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">FirstPort applied to the HNES to improve the efficiency of the heat network at Park 25 because for its significance in terms of the size of the development and the array of technology in use, including Biomass and gas boilers, connecting 100s of homes.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Stuart Wilcox, Head of Technical at FirstPort, said: <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cWe\u2019re delighted to have had a second development accepted for funding because it gives us an even greater opportunity to help more residents have efficient and cost-effective communal systems.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Park 25 is a great blueprint for us to understand the way the communal heat networks are working in larger and more complex buildings and we\u2019ll make sure those learnings can help residents living in similar developments.<span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><strong>Louise Singleton, Principal Consultant at Gemserv, said:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cIt is great to see FirstPort\u2019s dedication to ensuring their residents are getting the best deal on their heating requirements.
